Imphal: Tengnoupal Battalion foiled cross-border smuggling of gold at Khudengthabi, Tengnoupal district on Wednesday.
During routine checking at Permanent Vehicle Check Post, Khudengthabi, troops of Assam Rifles recovered three gold chains without any legitimate bill and cash Rs 26,790 from a woman.
The recovered gold chains were assessed to be worth Rs 24.90 lakhs.
The seized gold chains along with the apprehended individuals were handed over to Customs Representative, Moreh for further investigation, Assam Rifles official said.
