Varanasi: In a major breakthrough, Uttar Pradesh police has exposed a solver gang in the NEET exams, which were held in the country on Sunday.
In this connection, a BDS student of BHU Julie and her mother Babita Kumari, of Patna, Bihar, has been arrested. The gang leader is one PK of Patna. Police sources here on Tuesday said that raids were being conducted in search of other accused.
The arrested BDS student, a resident of Patna’s Sandalpur Vaishnavi Colony, was taking the examination in place of another student when she was caught. The financial condition of her family is not good and her father sells vegetables in Patna.
Taking advantage of this, the solver gang contacted Julie’s mother Babita and offered Rs 5 lakh. They said to the mother that if your daughter will sit in place of our candidate and give the exam, then Rs 5 lakh will be given as soon as she leaves the centre. Babita got lured by money and persuaded her daughter Julie to appear in the examination instead of another candidate, police said.
Babita took her daughter Julie to the NEET UG held on Sunday at the centre set up at St. Francis School in Sarnath. When the room inspectors suspected Julie, the information was given to the police.
On the basis of the information, the crime branch in charge Ashwani Pandey went with his team in the evening and interrogated Julie, then her fraud was exposed. Along with Julie, her mother was also caught. When the call details of Babita’s mobile were searched, two touts were found.
During the interrogation of Babita and Julie, two miscreants Vikas, a resident of Khagaria, Bihar, from the city itself and Osama Shahid was caught from the Mohammadabad area of Ghazipur. Osama and Vikas are being questioned separately.
Prima facie the inquiry revealed that Julie’s face is similar to the original candidate’s face. The photos of both were prepared with the help of Photoshop in such a way that no one sees Julie and the original candidate as different. After this Julie was made to practice hundreds of times on the signature of the original candidate.
Police said after interrogating the four arrested accused and checking the call details of their mobiles, the suspicion of the police has deepened on a doctor of KGMU in Lucknow.
A team of Crime Branch were in Lucknow to interrogate that doctor.
Along with this, the kingpin of this gang of solver gang is a PK resident of Patna. PK keeps changing hideouts in different places of the country including Patna. A team of Crime Branch has also been sent to Patna in search of PK.
Varanasi Police Commissioner A. Satish Ganesh said that the interrogation of the accused is going on. Our main objective is to reach the leader of a solver gang. The incident will be exposed after the inquiry is over.
