Four fresh COVID-19 cases, two recoveries in Meghalaya

Shillong: Four fresh COVID-19 infections and two more recoveries from the viral disease were reported in the State on Tuesday.

Director Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War said the new COVID-19 cases detected included two in East Khasi Hills district and one each in West Garo Hills district and Ri-Bhoi district.

He informed that the two recoveries registered today were also from the East Khasi Hills district, which includes State capital Shillong.

So far, Meghalaya has registered 13, 977 confirmed Covid-19 cases, including 148 deaths with 1.06 per cent case fatality rate besides 14 active cases and 13, 815 recoveries as on date.

Of the 3,79,237 persons tested for COVID-19 till Tuesday, 3,65,260 were tested negative for the virus, even as 95,170 persons from outside have entered the State so far since the onset of the pandemic.

There were nine persons in institutional quarantine and five persons in home isolation.

On the other hand, 13, 815 health care workers received the first dose of the Covishield vaccine and 3, 606 health care workers received the second dose, while 22, 793 front-line workers were inoculated with the first dose of the vaccine as on March 1, Dr. War said.
