Shillong: Former Meghalaya Congress legislator, Dr Phlour W Khongjee, died of COVID-19 at a private hospital here on Sunday.
He was 63.
Khongjee represented Sohra Assembly constituency in East Khasi Hills district from 2008 to 2013 and was also elected as a member of Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council from 2004 to 2009.
Khongjee had quit the BJP after unsuccessfully contesting the Meghalaya Assembly elections in 2018.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, Leader of Opposition Dr Mukul Sangma, Sohra Legislator, Gavin Mylliem have condoled the demise of Khongjee.
