Imphal:  In continuation of the 67th Wildlife Week, 2022 celebration, Kangpokpi Forest Division Wednesday organised a friendly football match with the CSOs of Kangpokpi District.

The CSOs have been very instrumental in helping raise awareness about the need to protect and conserve the wildlife of the State. Football being a very popular sport enjoyed by all,a the platform is used as a way to bring the community together, to bolster support for each other.

N Ganesh, DFO/ Kangpokpi Forest Division, stated that the support from CSOs is really appreciated as the department alone will not be as successful in protection and conservation efforts as compared to when the CSOs take active part. Besides, protecting wildlife should not be mistaken to be the duty of only the  department but it is a precious resource for all and every one should support it actively.

He also appealed to the public not to indulge in any activity that goes against the law and to be compassionate towards them as we share the planet with them and that they have as much right to live as we do.

It may be mentioned that Wildlife Week is celebrated from 2nd to 8th October this year under the theme “The future of wildlife is in our hands”.

Kangpokpi Forest Division has already organised an essay , painting, slogan and quiz competition for school students on 28th Sept.

The celebration will continue with an awareness programme at T Waichong on 7th October.
