Danton: West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee on Thursday said even if Election Commission (EC) transfers all West Bengal officers, TMC victory will not be prevented.
Addressing a public meeting here, the TMC supremo alleged that BJP was interfering in the functioning of the Election Commission.
The TMC chief’s remark comes after an IAS officer and four IPS officers in the state were removed by the Commission.
Earlier, the poll body has ordered the transfer of five officers, including an additional director general of police, in the state saying they will not be given any poll-related assignment.
Those transferred in the poll-bound state are ADG West Zone Sanjay Singh, DCP (South Kolkata) Sudhir Neelkantha, SP (Cooch Behar) K Kannan, SP (Diamond Harbour) Avijit Banerjee and district election officer of Jhargram Ayesha Rani, official sources said.
Earlier in a public meeting at Sagar today, Banerjee accused the BJP of backing a new political party to eat into minority votes.
The TMC supremo without naming any party or any person claimed the founder of that outfit receives money from the BJP.
“A new political outfit has been launched in the state at the behest of the BJP to grab a share of the minority votes and help the saffron party. Please don’t vote for its candidates,” Ms Banerjee said.
The chief minister claimed that the CPI(M )and Congress have an understanding with the BJP..
