ENNG militant apprehended in Arunachal’s Longding

Itanagar: In a successful counter-insurgency operation, the security forces have apprehended an active cadre of a Naga militant outfit from Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday, police said on Friday.

The Longding Battalion of Assam Rifles in a joint operation with the local police held the ‘self-styled captain’ holding the appointment of ‘brigade commander’ of Eastern Naga National Government (ENNG) from Longding town.

Based on a specific input, the security forces launched the joint operation in the School Colony of the town. During cordon and search of the suspected houses, the ENNG cadre was apprehended, police said adding, ”The apprehension is a major setback to recruitment and extortion activities of ENNG in the region.”

The arrested insurgent was later handed over to the Longding Police Station for further investigation, police added.
