Churachandpur: On completion of AC-Wise physical sorting of EVMs and VVPATs after the 1st randomization in connection with the ensuing General Election to Manipur Legislative Assembly, 2022, the Strong Room located at the Ground Floor of old DC’s Office building, Tuibong is closed and sealed Friday.
The process was carried out by the Addl. Deputy Commissioner and Addl. District Election Officer, Yumnam Nelson in the presence of representatives of political parties and other officials involved in election process of both the districts.
The randomization process was carried out through EVM Management System (EMS) software after which all EVMs, which include Control Unit (CU), Ballot Unit (BU) and VVPAT machines were allotted to the 6 assembly constituencies of the districts and subsequently as per guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI), a set of first randomization of EVM and VVPAT sheet was handed over to all the representatives of political parties
Based on the requirement and availability, the randomization was done for 519 EVMs and 558 VVPATs for Churachandpur and Pherzawl districts with 40-61 percent reserved for the 6 constituencies. The randomization process is a part of the EC’s guidelines to prevent any possible misuse or procedural lapses in use of EVM and VVPAT during the upcoming election.
Meanwhile, a virtual District Nodal Officers’ meeting was held Friday. The DEO Pawan Yadav reviewed the progress of works done by respective DNOs in their respective task.
