Imphal: Education Minister S. Rajen Singh has explained the modality of the marking for class X and XII exams conducted by COHSEM and BOSEM exams, Manipur which were cancelled due to COVID-19 Pandemic.
Minister was speaking to the media during a press conference held in the conference hall of the minister at Old Secretariat, Imphal, Saturday. Minister Rajen said that due to the pandemic of COVID-19 the exams of COHSEM and BOSEM have remained cancelled. It is not only for the state of Manipur but also all over the country.
He said that the total number of candidates who had registered for appearing in class X (BOSEM) exam, 2021, is 44068. These students are from 962 schools of the state which are registered to BOSEM, including private and government schools. Toppers of the exams will not be announced this year, he added.
Minister Rajen explained that for each student, the maximum marks to be assessed for each subject is 100. Out of this 100 marks, 20 marks are for Internal Assessment of the school, 30 marks are from previous class i.e. Class IX exam record and 50 marks will be considered on the basis of the performance of the students in pre board exams (term test and periodic test) conducted in their respective schools.
For class XII, 30 marks are from Class X record (three best subjects), 20 marks from Class XI and 50 Marks are from Class XII test exams conducted by the respective schools. Students who are not satisfied with the marking modalities can approach the concerned officials. Special exams will be arranged for those students. A total of 29517 students have registered for COHSEM exam 2021, he added.
Regarding students who could not submit filled up exam forms in time due to the pandemic of COVID-19, the minister informed that the education department alone cannot take decisions in this regard. The matter will be referred to the cabinet meeting.
He said that there is an order of the Supreme Court to announce the result of classes X and XII before 31st July. The education department is also committed to announce the result before the deadline given by the apex court.
Commissioner (Education) M. Harekrishna, IAS, Director, Education (S) L. Nandakumar Singh, IAS, Deputy Secretary, Education, T. Phulen Meitei, MCS, Chairmen and Secretaries of COHSEM and BOSEM, Controllers of Exam and other officials were also present during the press meet.
