New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday conducted raids at multiple locations including the National Herald office located at Herald House in the Central Delhi area just a week after it questioned Congress president Sonia Gandhi for three days in connection with the National Herald case, sources said.

Last week, the Congress president has questioned three times and her Member of Parliament son Rahul Gandhi was also quizzed for five days over 50 hours by the ED at its headquarters here.

Meanwhile, Congress workers including its women wing staged a protest outside Herald House against ED raids on the National Herald newspaper office.

Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge described the ED raids on offices of the National Herald as “political vendetta”.

Asked about the raid, Kharge said, “this is a politics of Vendetta. They should not have done so, they just want to suppress the voice of the Congress Party and they want to make a fearful atmosphere and they want to demoralize Congress Workers, they are doing it, but Congress people are not going to be afraid of these things and they will fight.”

“We have been fighting for a long time, so many cases and so many times, they called our people and they are targeting only Congress. First, they called Rahul Gandhi Ji, they called Sonia Gandhi Ji, and today they have raided nearly 13-14 places.”

He said the National Herald is a nonprofit making trust, which is running a newspaper.

“As the role of National Herald was very important in 1938 to 1947-1948, freedom movement, up to that also it was giving a correct picture and most of the planning and other things, they used to explain people through that newspaper, but, today they want to completely demolish and non-BJP leaders are arrested,” he said.
