Agartala: The Science 20 Conference of G20 held at Agartala bears fruit as the pioneer of Biotech Park in Dubai has expressed its interest to set up the first specialized Bio-technology Park of Northeast in Tripura for catering to its clients across South Asian countries.
On the side-line of G 20 summit, the Chairman and Managing Director of Epygen Biotech Pvt Limited, an Indian-origin scientist-industrialist who hails from Tripura, Debayan Ghosh, held a detailed discussion with Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha with a proposal to invest Rs 100 Cr in phases for creating facilities for Biotech companies including manufacturing units of industrial and pharmaceutical products in the state.
“The meeting was fruitful and the Chief Minister has assured me all support for the venture,” Ghosh said. He pointed out that they are exporting patented bio-enzymes for Oil & Gas exploration companies in Bangladesh, Indonesia, Vietnam, and several Eastern European countries from Dubai, which the company intends to shift to Tripura to harness the benefit of Maitri Sethu over River Feni to connect Chittagong seaport within 100 kilometres distance.
“In the healthcare area, our company has set up a state-of-the-art Biopharma plant in Maharashtra and leading research to produce affordable vaccines and critical care biopharmaceuticals for cardiovascular, oncology, human insulin, and hormone therapy. We have already developed a Subunit protein-based Omicron BA.5 vaccine and working on Pandemic X, by which within 100 days vaccines will be made ready to prevent pandemic-causing infections by critical variants,” Ghosh told Dr Saha.
He proposes to set up a Biotech Park around Epygen in Tripura with modern facilities for other research and manufacturing units that would be attracted to set up here and utilize this gateway to the East, focusing on biopharmaceuticals for critical ailments.
