Guwahati: In a bid to further boost air connectivity of the North Eastern Region, the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) will launch the first flight of Dornier Do-228 aircraft from Dibrugarh in Assam to Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday.
Alliance Air will be India’s first commercial airline to fly Indian made aircraft for civil operation. There will also be inauguration of First FTO (Flying Training Organisation) for the NorthEast region at Lilabari, Assam, said a statement by the Civil Aviation Ministry.
Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia will inaugurate both the events in the presence of Chief Ministers of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh and other officials.
Development of the North Eastern Region (NER) is not only of strategic importance, but is also part of India’s growth story. Considering the hilly terrain, helicopter operations under UDAN scheme have been given focus for connectivity.
