Dev of border villages priority of state govt says Arunachal Governor

Lauding the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre, he said that under Prime Minister’s leadership in the last five to six years border areas of the state have witnessed an unprecedented speed of development of infrastructure, especially road connectivity.

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) BD Mishra on Thursday said that the development of border villages was the priority of the state government.

“We will continue to work for comprehensive development of border villages by providing them good road connectivity, power, water supply, health and educational amenities,” the Governor said while delivering his customary address to the Assembly on the opening day of the seven-day budget session here.

Lauding the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre, he said that under Prime Minister’s leadership in the last five to six years border areas of the state have witnessed an unprecedented speed of development of infrastructure, especially road connectivity.

“We have been sensitising our government machinery to provide all necessary assistance to our border guarding forces in delivering on their duty of protecting our motherland,” the Governor said.

Citing the ‘’excellent” civil-military coordination, he said, “the people of Arunachal are always more than willing to provide all local assistance to our armed forces. We will seek the support of the armed forces and border guarding forces in our endeavour to develop our border villages.”

The Governor said that the state government is diligently working with all executing agencies for better road connectivity in border areas of the state.

He informed that preparation of a detailed project report (DPR) for the Frontier Highway would commence soon.

Mentioning the health sector, the Governor said that the state government has taken up a massive Rs 400 crore project to upgrade the health infrastructure in the district hospitals in view of the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic.

Talking about the Covid vaccination, the Governor said that the government is carrying out vaccination in a mission mode and using all means of transportation including helicopters to reach the vaccine to remote locations, adding that till date about 13,290 health care workers have been vaccinated.

“My Government would continue to work in various areas such as immunisation, nutrition, mother and child care, cancer detection and treatment, and control of other communicable and non-communicable diseases,” he said.
