Death toll in Uttarakhand bus accident rises to 32

Pauri Garhwal/Dehradun: In Uttarakhand’s Pauri Garhwal district, the relief operation that started late Tuesday night ended on Wednesday evening after a bus full of passengers fell into a deep gorge late on Tuesday evening. 

The total death toll in this gruesome accident has reached 32. While a total of 18 injured passengers have been sent for treatment to various hospitals. State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) spokesperson Vineet Kumar gave this information to UNI this evening.

The relief work was duly started after the SDRF and the police received information about the accident that happened around 7 pm on Tuesday evening. Earlier, the local villagers started the rescue work by landing in the mobile phone lights in the dark about three hundred feet deep ditch.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the State Disaster Control Center in Dehradun, and the administrative officers of Pauri had started the supervision of the rescue operations by visiting the spot. The Chief Minister along with Haridwar MP Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank reached the spot today and inspected the rescue work. The overnight rescue by villagers, SDRF and police personnel ended this evening.

It is noteworthy that the wedding procession of Sandeep’s son Swa Nand Ram, who lived near Shiv temple located in village Laldhang of Shyampur area of ​​Haridwar, had left home for Kanda village of Pauri district at one o’clock on Tuesday afternoon. The barati was in a bus, while the groom Sandeep had gone by car. The baraat’s bus had an accident near Birkhal Simdi band of Pauri. There were a total of 50 baraatis in the bus.

On this accident, President Draupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh have also expressed grief. In a tweet, Mrs. Murmu wrote, “Saddened by the accident of many casualties after the bus fell into the valley in Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand. My deepest condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in this accident. I wish the injured a speedy recovery.
