Imphal: Manipur has reported 530 fresh Covid-19 cases, the lowest in three weeks, and 15 more fatalities in the past 24 hours, according to the State Health Directorate on Sunday.
The fresh addition took the active case tally to 8,499 while the death toll soared to 974 and the cumulative caseload now stands at 59,852.
The 530 new cases, reported after 5,059 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, are the lowest after May 24 when Manipur recorded 530 Covid cases in a day.
Fifteen persons – one each at Raj Medicity and District Hospital Jiribam, two at RIMS, seven at JNIMS and four at Shija Hospital expired. Among them seven were from Imphal West, two each from Imphal East and Bishnupur, one each at Thoubal, Kakching, Ukhrul and Jiribam.
On a positive note, recoveries continued to outnumber the daily new cases for three consecutive days with 726 patients, including 526 from home isolation, being recovered during the past day, hence pushing the recovery rate to 84.17 per cent. The cumulative number of recovered cases is now 50,379 (general population – 46,618 and Central Security Personnel – 3,761).
Under the statewide vaccination drive, a total of 4,67,076 people have been vaccinated across the state till now with 2611 being inoculated in the last 24 hours, which is perhaps the lowest one in a week time.
Out of the new positive cases, Imphal West reported the highest at 170, followed by Imphal East – 80 and Bishnupur – 60, Thoubal – 56 and Churachandpur – 54, as per the bulletin issued by the state Directorate of Health Services.
A total of 1791 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and 495 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of Manipur.
