Covid-19: Random testing conducted at Wokha

The testing was focused mainly on the business establishments, vegetable vendors and shopkeepers.

Kohima: As decided during the District Task Force Meeting for COVID-19, to prevent the spread of the virus (COVID-19), the DTF in collaboration with the Medical department conducted Random Antigen Test (RAT) at six (6) locations within the Wokha town area on 19th July 2021.

The testing was focused mainly on the business establishments, vegetable vendors and shopkeepers. Altogether 450 (four hundred fifty) samples were collected for testing and out of which one (1) turned out to be positive. Testings were done at the following locations NST colony, Chukitong Taxi stand, Co-operative Bank, PWD junction, daily bazaar and police point area.

Wokha District Chambers of Commerce & Industries (WDCCI) led by its president, Renpithung Kikon also assisted the testing team in mobilizing and encouraging the business community to come forward for the testing, and as requested by the WDCCI many members turned up in large numbers for the testing. Kikon also acknowledges the DTF for initiating the random testing for the business community and assured of their fullest co-operation in days to come also.

The Random Antigen Test will continue till the 23rd July 2021 in the urban areas after which the same will be conducted in a phase manner covering the entire district. Tomorrow the 20th July 2021, the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) will be conducted at Vankhosung Mission Centre and APMC, Wokha Village on 22nd July 2021 and Longsa village on the 23rd July 2021.

The District Task Force also requested all colonies Council Chairman and Village Councils to assist the Medical Department/ Testing team during the testing exercise, further public are urged to comply with the existing SOPs with regard to COVID-19 during the exercise. The testing will start from 8:00AM onwards.
