COVID 19 positivity rate coming down in Assam; fatalities rate unchanged

In last 24 hours, Assam has reported 72 more COVID-19 deaths and 5,980 new positive cases.

Guwahati: The COVID 19 positivity rate in Assam is coming down after showing an upward trend last week.

On Sunday, the overall positivity rate in Assam stood at 5.68%, however, the mortality rates have remained more or less unchanged. In last 24 hours, Assam has reported 72 more COVID-19 deaths and 5,980 new positive cases.

Confirming the news, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet on Sunday evening said the new cases were confirmed out of 62722 tests conducted in the last 24 hours.

Assam’s overall positivity percentage stood at 5.68% on Sunday, chief minister Sarma informed.

The Assam chief minister also informed that of the new cases, Kamrup Metro district alone reported 624 cases.

The state’s COVID-19 recovery rate stood at 84.12% on Sunday, according to the data, shared by chief minister Sarma.

Assam’s COVID-19 recovery rate currently stands at 84.87%.

“Summary of 23/5/2021 Today’s Total 3563 Overall Positivity Percentage (3563 cases out of 62722 test done = 5.68%) Kamrup(M) 624 Death 72 Recovery Rate 84.87%,” Mr Sarma tweeted.
