Lucknow: Ruling BJP MLA from Salon in Rae Bareli Dal Bahadur Kori succumbed to coronavirus here on Friday morning.
Family sources said Kori breathed his last at a private hospital in Lucknow after around 15 days of treatment.
A two time MLA, Mr Kori was also a state minister in the previous Rajnath Singh government in the state.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, assembly speaker Hridya Narain Dikshit, BJP president Swantra Deo Singh, BJP MLC Vijay Bahadur Pathak along with others have expressed their condolences on the demise of Mr Kori.
This will be the fourth BJP MLA of UP who have succumbed to the second wave of the deadly Corona.
Earlier on April 28, BJP’s Nawabganj seat MLA in Bareilly district, Kesar Singh Gangwar died due to Covid in Noida.
On April 23, BJP MLA from Aurriya sadar seat Ramesh Diwakar died at Meerut Medical college hospital while Lucknow (West) BJP MLA Suresh Kumar Srivastava succumbed at SGPGI in Lucknow.
Tragedy struck both the families of the BJP MLA, when Diwakar’s father died of a heart attack after hearing the news of his son’s death. Similarly Suresh Suresh Kumar Srivastava’s wife too succumbed to Covid within 48 hours of her husband’s death.
During the first wave of Corona last year, two UP ministers and BJP MLAs Chetan Chauhan and Ms Kamla Rani Varun died due to the virus. Three MLAs too, 2 of BJP and one of SP died in the first wave.
Meanwhile, senior journalist Sesh Narain Singh died of COVID-19 during treatment in Greater Noida on Friday.
