COVID-19: Arunachal’s active caseload crosses 100-mark

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh’s active COVID-19 caseload went past the 100-mark as 29 more persons have tested positive for the infection on Friday, a senior health official said.

Post detection of the new cases, the hilly state’s tally of confirmed cases has increased to 55,436, while its active caseload stands at 103.

Going with the wave, Lohit accounted for most detection with eight cases, closely followed by Itanagar Capital Complex at seven and Namsai at six. Four cases came from Tawang, three from East Siang three, while Papum Pare found one case.

Seven of the eight Lohit cases are ITBP personnel from the 9th Battalion of the Force based at Lohitpur. Of the new cases, nine are returnees from different states, the official said.

A large chunk of the virus cases (24) was found to be symptomatic and five asymptomatic, he said, adding that the day’s positivity rate was 6.30 per cent which stood at 6.44 per cent on Thursday.

On the other hand, one more patient was cured of the disease, which took the total number of recoveries to 55,051.

With the single-day COVID-19 infection cases continuing to exceed the daily recovered cases, the state’s recovery rate has further reduced 99.30 per cent from yesterday’s 99.35 per cent, while the overall positivity rate rose to 0.18 per cent from the previous day’s 0.13 per cent.

The state has so far recorded 282 COVID-19 fatalities. The death rate stands at 0.51 per cent.

Meanwhile, a total of 5162 COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered to the eligible people across the Northeastern state during the last 24 hours that swelled its cumulative vaccination coverage to over 14.79 lakh, the official said.
