Guwahati: Srinivas Bhadravathi Venkata, the President of the Indian Youth Congress, arrived in Guwahati on Monday and is scheduled to appear before the Guwahati police regarding the harassment case filed against him by expelled Assam Youth Congress leader, Angkita Dutta.
Srinivas BV was greeted by a large reception of party workers upon his arrival at Guwahati Airport, showing their support.
Prior to his visit, the Guwahati Police implemented Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, prohibiting gatherings of more than five people within the city limits.
In April, Angkita Dutta, the ousted Assam Pradesh Youth Congress President (AIYC), lodged a complaint against Srinivas BV at the Dispur Police headquarters, accusing him of mentally and physically torturing her over the past year.
Dutta’s police complaint detailed instances of Srinivas mentally harassing her, making sexist remarks, using discriminatory language, and undermining her.
She also alleged that he had attempted to intimidate her by threatening repercussions if she continued to voice her concerns to higher-ranking officials.
Despite informing higher-ranking party officials about the situation, Dutta expressed disappointment in the lack of action taken against Srinivas.
