Imphal: Congress party has appealed to the BJP government in the centre and the state to come out of hibernation and start helping the people who have been affected by clashes between two groups of people in the state since May 3 last.
Bhakta Charan Das AICC in charge Manipur addressing the media here on Wednesday at Congress office said something which never happened in Manipur took place which is unfortunate. It is a national crisis and the whole nation is crying over the unfortunate incidents. Government should consider the situation as a natural calamity and start work immediately to help people stranded in various relief camps.
Life and property have been destroyed and measures should be taken up to help the homeless people. As the government has failed to act, people suffer and it is time for the government to act, he said.
Curfew was relaxed till 11 am on Wednesday and internet services remained cancelled since May 3 last when clashes started between two communities. Meanwhile people stranded in Moreh, Churachandpur who were stranded started coming out with the help of civil societies.
Prices of essential commodities have skyrocketed and there was a shortage of essential commodities. So far 216 FIRs have been lodged in various police stations and about 4000 people were yet to be evacuated. Â
Meanwhile various civil societies have appealed to all not to spread wrong news and appealed to stop spreading information which may disturb peace and tranquility.
