Imphal: The Congress, which had an uninterrupted 15-year reign in Maniour till 2017, was decimated in the Manipur Assembly polls, votes for which were counted on Thursday.
The grand old party, which finished as the single largest party with 28 seats in the last Assembly elections, managed to win in only four constituencies this time.
Congress stalwart O Ibobi Singh, who served as Chief Minister for 15 years, and was a handful of Congress candidae=tes to win in the current polls, alleged that the elections were not held in a free and fair manner and there were rampant cases of booth capturing.
He accused the BJP of managing to win by using “Muscle and money power”.
Manipur Congress President N Loken,and three former state party Chiefs Gaikhangam Gangme, TN Haokip and M Okendro also lost their seats. All except M Okendro were sitting MLAs.
Congress which got 35.1 percent votes in the last elections, managed only 16.58 percent this election.
