Silchar: More than 2,500 beneficiaries and participants attended simultaneous cheque distribution programmes organised across six Assembly constituencies of Cachar on Thursday, under the Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan (CMAAA) 1.0 and 2.0.
The programmes were held at Lakhipur, Udharbond, Borkhola, Katigorah, Sonai and Dholai in coordination with the District Administration and District Industries & Commerce Centre. The events were organised alongside the central programme and included live telecast of the central event in Guwahati led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, interaction with beneficiaries, experience sharing sessions and distribution of cheques.
The exercise covered six LACs of the district with the Silchar Municipal Corporation areas kept out of the distribution in view of the ongoing Silchar Municipal Corporation election, with the Model Code of Conduct in force in the corporation areas.
Katigorah recorded turnout with more than 650 people attending the programme at Sadhbhavana Mandap, Lakhipur. Katigorah MLA Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha was present as chief guest. Lakhipur also witnessed more than 600 participants at the Jaganath Mandir-cum-Skill Development Centre at Laboc, where state Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs minister Kaushik Rai attended as chief guest.
More than 400 people attended the Dholai programme at the CDC office auditorium, while Borkhola recorded over 350 participants at the Borkhola Multipurpose Hall. More than 200 beneficiaries and attendees took part in the Udharbond programme at the Mahaprabhu Jagannath Community-cum-Skill Center at Arunabond Tea Estate. Sonai recorded more than 200 participants at the Sonai Multipurpose Hall.
At the Lakhipur programme, Minister Kaushik Rai interacted with beneficiaries and took part in the ceremonial distribution. The event was coordinated by the CDC Lakhipur, Assistant Commissioner, Cachar with the BDOs of Lakhipur, Rajabazar and Binnakandi and the Executive Officer of Lakhipur Municipal Board assisting in the arrangements.
In Udharbond, MLA Rajdeep Goala attended the programme as chief guest. The event was coordinated by the Additional District Commissioner of Cachar and Circle Officer of Udharbond Revenue Circle.
Borkhola MLA Kishor Nath attended the programme at Niz Borkhola. ADC, Cachar was overall in charge and Circle Officer of Silchar Revenue Circle acted as nodal officers, assisted by the BDOs of Borkhola and Tapang.
At Katigorah, Circle Officer of Katigorah Revenue Circle coordinated the programme, with ADC Cachar in charge and with the BDOs of Katigorah and Kalain and the Executive Officer of Badarpur Municipal Board assisting.
Former minister and MP Parimal Suklabaidya attended the Sonai programme as chief guest at Sonai. The programme was coordinated by the Circle Officer (A) of Sonai Revenue Circle, led by ADC Cachar, with the BDOs of Sonai and Banskandi and the Executive Officer of Sonai Municipal Board assisting.
At Dholai, MLA Amiya Kanti Das and representatives of the MP attended the programme. Circle Officer (A) of Silchar Revenue Circle served as nodal officer with ADC Cachar in charge, assisted by the BDOs of Dholai-Narsingpur, Barjalenga and Palonghat.
The programmes also provided beneficiaries an opportunity to share their experiences of the CMAAA initiative. Officials from the Agriculture, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary departments, the Directorate of Employment & Craftsmen Training and partner banks were present at the venues to interact with beneficiaries and provide information on the available support.
The simultaneous programmes allowed beneficiaries from the six LACs to receive the benefits closer to their respective localities instead of travelling to the district headquarters. The district administration and the District Industries & Commerce Centre coordinated the arrangements with elected representatives, government departments, banks and local administrative officials.
The programmes formed part of the state wide implementation of CMAAA 1.0 and 2.0. At the central event in Guwahati on Thursday, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma distributed financial assistance to 82,219 young entrepreneurs under the two phases of the scheme.
