Imphal: In a significant step towards boosting infrastructural development in all the constituencies of the State,Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, today inaugurated five development projects in Langthabal Assembly Constituency (AC). The projects include three water supply schemes namely Karam, Haoreibi and Lilong Chajing Water Supply Scheme, along with two community halls at Naran Konjil Mayai Leikai and Naorem Leikai. The programme was held at Naorem Leikai Community Hall, Imphal West.
In his address, the Chief Minister said that peace is the foremost option for development and urged people to stand united towards achieving peace in the State. He stressed that in the last two months and twenty days, he has engaged with MLAs, officials and people from different communities to work together for fostering peace. He said he has been visiting hill and valley areas, including Jiribam, Senapati, Kangpokpi and Ukhrul districts to address people’s grievances. Sharing his thoughts, he said that people across communities have expressed a strong desire for restoration of peace. He also lamented about the unfortunate incidents that derailed the peace process and stated that the culprits will be identified soon.
The Chief Minister appealed to the public to maintain harmony and be cautious of disruptive elements to create division. He said developmental work will continue across all regions, including far-off areas, despite the challenges. He called for cooperation between the public and the government to build a peaceful and progressive Manipur.
Speaking as the Guest of Honour, Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho commended the Chief Minister for his active outreach across the state, including visits to remote areas like Jiribam, Senapati and Ukhrul. He said that the Chief Minister has taken a unique approach by personally meeting people from different communities and listening to their concerns. He added that even people living far from Imphal have appreciated these visits and expressed confidence in the leadership.
He urged civil society organisations and the public to work together to maintain peace and harmony. He said hatred and division will only harm the state and delay progress. He stressed that if people truly desire peace, it is achievable through unity and coordination between the government and the public.
Delivering presidential speech, MLA Langthabal AC Karam Shyam said the inauguration of the water supply schemes will ensure access to clean drinking water for the people of Langthabal Assembly Constituency. He said the two newly inaugurated community halls will help address long-standing inconveniences faced by locals in organising social and community events. He noted that these projects will directly benefit the daily lives of the people.
He further raised concerns about the condition of inter village roads in the constituency and requested the Chief Minister to take up necessary action. He stated that some development works were delayed earlier due to legal issues, but now progress has resumed. He expressed confidence that under the present government, people will receive proper infrastructure and developmental benefits.
The programme was attended by senior officials including Deputy Commissioner, Imphal West, Mayanglambam Rajkumar Singh; officials of the Public Health Engineering Department; district administration; civil society organisations and local residents, among others.
