Churachandpur: In a major breakthrough, the Churachandpur police arrested three persons and seized a number of items used for manufacturing and processing brown sugar Monday after a major raid.
The District Police busted a brown sugar factory at T Bethlehem Village under Tuibong Subdivision, Churachandpur District after intense surveillance for about one month.
“The raid was as part of the state government’s efforts on ‘War on Drugs campaign,” Churachandpur District SP, Amrita Sinha said.
The raid Monday was led by David Kilong, SDPO, Thanlon under the guidance of Additional SP (LO) and ASP (Ops) under the active and overall supervision of SP Churachandpur Amrita Sinha. Three persons, identified as Mangthang Lupheng (42), son of Jamsei of P Haijang, Saikul subdivision at present residing at T Bethlehem, Churachandpur; Seiminthang Lupheng (38), son of late Paokhosei of M Semol Village, Churachandpur and Lalminsang Ralte (18) son of Sena of Lhangnom, Jiribamat present residing at T. Bethlehem village, Churachandpur.
The police team also seized a number of items used for manufacturing and processing brown sugar including ammonium chloride, di-ammonium phosphate, lime and 5.3 kgs of opium besides other items along with a sum of Rs. 1 lakh.
Churachandpur Police has registered a case in this connection under ND&PS Act. Further investigation is on till the time of filing this report.
