Chandel celebrates 73rd Republic Day

Deputy Commissioner, Chandel, Mayenglambam Rajkumar said that nation-building is not only about infrastructures development but what is more important is human resource development.

Chandel: The 73rd Republic Day was celebrated at Chandel, Mini secretariat, DC complex Wednesday. The celebration started with the parade inspection and unfurling of the Nation Flag with Rashtriya salute by the Deputy Commissioner, Chandel Mayenglambam Rajkumar. Due to COVID19 pandemic, this year’s march-past contingents were limited to the active service personnel only. The parade was commanded by CL. Thotrething.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner, Chandel, Mayenglambam Rajkumar said that nation-building is not only about infrastructures development but what is more important is human resource development. Speaking about the present covid pandemic, he said that vaccination is the only way to defeat the pandemic and urged the people of the district to stop the vaccine hesitation and get vaccinated as soon as possible. During his speech, he praised the women of the district for their active participation in the district administration in all the different fields.

As part of the function, the district administration felicitated, officers/ officials and security personnel of various establishments of the district by awarding certificates of honour. Special mention can be made of the four lady officials from different departments who served as Polling Officers in the last election who were also felicitated as an encouragement and recognition of their service. Besides this, ThumliJeyshing Monsang who is the first person to become a National Football Referee from Chandel was also felicitated.

The function was attended by SP Chandel, CO,8MR, CO, 18AR, DLOs, official staff and a large number of public of the district.
