BSF jawans fired each other, killed two left one injured in Tripura

The BSF has instituted an enquiry into the incident and top police and BSF officials visited the spot.

Agartala: Two BSF jawans were killed and one seriously injured in 20 Battalion of BSF last evening at Silacharri in Gomati district along Indo-Bangladesh border when they opened fire at each other.

According to the report, Habildar Satbir Singh and constable Pratap Singh were on patrol duty along the border and suddenly they got engaged in an altercation. At a point in time at the fit of rage constable, Pratap Singh shot Habildar Satbir Singh at the head from his Insas Rifle. Satbir Singh died on the spot.

Leaving the body at the border, Pratap Singh returned to the camp and opened indiscriminate firing. At this time Sub-inspector Ram Kumar Singh came out and tried to pacify him and asked him to surrender. Pratap Singh, raging in fury, shot Ram Kumar Singh.

The bullet hit the Sub Inspector in the leg and he fell seriously injured.
Since Pratap Singh was in no mood to surrender and attempted more firing BSF sentry Abhimanyu Yadav then opened fire and shot him dead on the spot, BSF source said adding that injured Ram Kumar Singh was shifted to Agartala Govt Medical College.

The BSF has instituted an enquiry into the incident and top police and BSF officials visited the spot.
