BJP’s Tsering Lhamu ‘set’ to win Lumla bye-poll without contest

He said that so far Tsering Lhamu, the BJP candidate has filed her nomination twice – the first time the candidate herself along with proposer filed her nomination on February 2 and the second time through her proposer on February 6.

Itanagar: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate and wife of former party MLA Jambey Tashi, Tsering Lhamu is ‘set’ to win the bye-elections to Lumla Assembly constituency in Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh without any contest, as excepting her none have filed papers till closing time of filing nominations on Tuesday, sources said.


Tuesday (7th February) was the last day for filing nominations for the Lumla bye-polls, scheduled to be held on February 27.


“As per notifications of Election Commission of India, the Returning Officer RD Thungon alongwith Assistant Returning Officer Tsering Choden waited in the chamber of RO for nominations from 11 am to 3 pm, but no candidate from any political party or independent turned up for filing nominations,” the RO said.


He said that so far Tsering Lhamu, the BJP candidate has filed her nomination twice – the first time the candidate herself along with proposer filed her nomination on February 2 and the second time through her proposer on February 6.


As per the ECI poll schedule, scrutiny of nominations will be held on February 8, while the last date for withdrawal of candidatures is February 10.


The results will be announced on March 2 and the date before which the election shall be completed is March 4.


The bye-poll to the Lumla Assembly seat was necessitated following the death of incumbent MLA Jambey Tashi on November 2 last year.
