Yadgir: Yet another clash between BJP and Congress workers has come to light after a similar fight broke out between JDS and Congress in Yadgir district ahead of assembly elections.

The incident took place on Thursday in Shorapur constituency, wherein several vehicles were vandalised and at least 10 people were injured.
The clash ensued when Congress ticket aspirant Raja Venkatappa Nayak attended a temple fair, despite the model of conduct being in force.

BJP workers, who were present in the vicinity, protested against Nayak’s participation in the temple fair. This led to a fracas between the supporters of both the parties. Stones were pelted and cars and other vehicles were vandalised.

In the clash, as many as 10 people have been injured, and police have apprehended 18 people, besides registering a complaint against BJP and Congress leaders Raju Gowda and Nayak, respectively.

Taking cognisance of the situation, Yadgir Deputy Commissioner clamped prohibitory orders in Shorapur constituency for two days.

A similar fracas broke out between JDS and Congress workers, on Monday, in Gurmitkal assembly constituency in Yadgir district.

The incident took place when JDS workers protested against the presence of Congress leader Baburao Chinchansur at a village fair, stating that the fair was being conducted irrespective of political parties, and no leader should be entertained.

Police had registered a case into the matter as well.
