Bishnupur: As part of the observance of World Environment Day 2026, the District Administration Bishnupur, in collaboration with the Divisional Forest Office, Bishnupur, and the Zonal Education Office, Zone-IV, felicitated the teachers and students of Kumbi Sandhong Upper Primary School, Kumbi, today in recognition of their active contribution towards environmental protection and conservation.
The felicitation programme was organised to acknowledge the commendable efforts of the school community in undertaking regular social service activities in the locality, including tree plantation drives and initiatives aimed at maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Bishnupur, Pooja Elangbam, lauded the teachers and students for their dedication and commitment to safeguarding the environment. She appreciated their active involvement in environmental conservation activities and highlighted the importance of nurturing environmentally responsible habits from a young age.
The Deputy Commissioner encouraged the students to continue their good work and take greater interest in learning about waste segregation and sustainable waste management practices. She also urged them to become ambassadors of environmental awareness by spreading the message of conservation among their families and communities.
Emphasising the need for sustained action, Pooja Elangbam suggested the formation of an eco-club in the school to promote regular environmental activities and ensure long-term engagement in conservation efforts.
ADM Bishnupur Toijam Opendro, DFO Waikhom Romabai and ZEO Zone IV Atom Gunamani and other officials also joined the programme.
