Big surge of 116 positive cases Tuesday in Manipur

Imphal: Manipur saw a surge in positive cases with 116 persons (99 general population 17 CAPF) testing positive in the last 24 hours leading up to 2 pm of Tuesday and the positivity rate jumped to 5.1%.

During the same time, one person succumbed to the deadly virus and 14 persons recovered and were discharged, as per an official release from the Health Department.

Of the 99 persons from the general population who tested positive, 33 are from Imphal West, 24 from Imphal East, 21 from Churachandpur, five from Senapati, four from Thoubal, three each from Kakching and Kangpokpi, two from Bishnupur and one each from Chandel, Tamenglong and Ukhrul.

Altogether, 2,283 persons were tested amounting to a positivity rate of 5.1 %.

Meanwhile, 14 persons recovered and were discharged, five of them from CCCs, six from home isolation and three from JNIMS.

The recovery rate in Manipur now stands at 97.98 %.

The cumulative number of positive cases in the state now stands at 1, 26,344 out of which 1,23,793 have recovered, leaving 539 active cases.

The total number of doses administered on January 10, 2022, is 6,560, the cumulative number of doses administered is 23,56,145 (1st dose 13,45,049, 2nd dose 10,10,049) and precautionary 590.
