Nagpur:Riding on a brilliant 161 by Dhara Gujjar and an excellent bowling performance by Mita Paul (5-25), Bengal senior women’s team outclassed Pondicherry by 183 runs in a one-day trophy game here on Monday.
Bengal posted 279/6 in 50 overs while Pondicherry were bundled out for just 96 in 33.2 overs.
Batting first, Bengal were reduced to 84/2 inside 28 overs. But Dhara single-handedly helped Bengal stage a superb comeback. In her 157-ball innings, Dhara smashed 24 boundaries.
She also added a vital 145-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Prativa (41 not out) to help Bengal post a challenging total.
In reply, Pondicherry were struggling at 53/3 inside 20 overs.
Yuvashri (30) scored a handy knock for his side but wickets at regular intervals folded their innings at just 96.
Besides Mita, Saika Ishaque and Dhara also chipped in with a wicket each for Bengal.
