‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ should be a ‘Jan Andolan’ : Arunachal Guv

The Governor, being a member of the National Committee, suggested for active and enthusiastic participation of the people in ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, while adding, that “It should be a ‘Jan Andolan’ and must inspire the younger generation to contribute towards the Nation’s cause”, a communiqué from the Raj Bhavan said.

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) Dr BD Mishra attended the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-chaired second meeting of the National Committee for 75th Anniversary of India’s Independence commemoration (Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav) through virtual mode from Raj Bhavan here on Wednesday.

The Governor, being a member of the National Committee, suggested for active and enthusiastic participation of the people in ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, while adding, that “It should be a ‘Jan Andolan’ and must inspire the younger generation to contribute towards the Nation’s cause”, a communiqué from the Raj Bhavan said.

The Governor further urged that ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ must highlight the unsung heroes of the State who took part in the country’s freedom struggle. He also emphasised on empowerment of 
women and promotion of culture, crafts and sports.

Mishra appealed to the people to imbibe the values and ethics of the Constitution of India as a tribute to the freedom fighters of the country. “With firm resolve and resolute pursuit, the people can give India the rightful position in the new world order,” he said.

The Governor, while exhorting the state’s people to participate in the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence, said that “the Corona pandemic must not be a hurdle in our programme for Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, instead it should be a consolidating factor for this National movement”, the communiqué added.
