Kamjong: A one-day awareness programme on HIV/AIDS for members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) was held today at Shanaolong Community Hall, Kasom Khullen.
The programme was organised by K Prem, district incharge, Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MSRLM), Kamjong in collaboration with the Manipur AIDS Control Society (MACS) with the objective of creating awareness on HIV/AIDS, promoting early detection and encouraging preventive healthcare practices among the public.
Altogether 100 participants attended the programme, which focused on creating awareness on modes of transmission, preventive measures, available treatment facilities and the need to remove stigma associated with HIV/AIDS. Interactive sessions and open discussions were also conducted to encourage greater awareness and community participation.
Medical Officer (CMO), Kamjong, Dr. Deenlung Ngoruw attended the programme as the Resource Person and delivered an informative session on HIV/AIDS awareness, importance of early detection and treatment, and the need to promote voluntary testing and social acceptance of affected persons.
The awareness programme also emphasised the importance of community participation in addressing misconceptions and promoting responsible health practices at the grassroots level.
The programme concluded successfully with active participation from SHG members and organisers, reaffirming the importance of sustained awareness initiatives in promoting public health and reducing social stigma associated with HIV/AIDS.
