Imphal: Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), organised a series of community outreach activities in villages of the Sehlon region from 04 to 07 May 2026 to mark the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor. The commemorative programme brought together officials, troops and 278 local residents, including children, youth and women, in a spirit of unity and remembrance.
The celebrations began with a “Run for Fun,” where villagers joined Assam Rifles personnel in promoting fitness, camaraderie and community interaction. Tree plantation drives followed, with enthusiastic participation from school children and youth, highlighting environmental awareness and sustainable development. Free medical camps were also conducted, providing basic health check-ups, consultations and essential medicines to villagers, a gesture particularly valued in remote areas with limited access to healthcare.
A special initiative, “A Day with Company Commander,” engaged children in essay writing, poster making, fun games and races, fostering confidence and constructive interaction with the force. The commemorations concluded with a solemn candle lighting ceremony at the Unit War Memorial, where personnel paid tribute to the courage, sacrifice and dedication associated with Operation Sindoor.
Through these activities, Assam Rifles reinforced civil-military cooperation, strengthened bonds with the local populace and honoured the enduring spirit of Operation Sindoor in Manipur’s border areas.
