Churachandpur: In a moving tribute to courage and sacrifice, Assam Rifles organised a solemn Wreath Laying Ceremony at Churachandpur District, Manipur, on 06 June 2026 to honour Sep Thenkhomang Haokip of 59 RR Battalion (Assam). The brave soldier laid down his life while serving the nation in Leh, Ladakh, on 04 June 2026.
The ceremony was conducted at his native residence with full military honours, bringing together senior Army and Assam Rifles officials, civil dignitaries, village authorities, ex-servicemen, family members and residents. A total of over 120 personnel and civilians gathered to pay their final respects, laying wreaths as a mark of gratitude for his selfless service.
Prayers were offered for the departed soul and the gathering observed a moment of silence, reflecting the deep respect of the Armed Forces and the nation towards a soldier who served with distinction. The event also witnessed the participation of a large number of villagers and well-wishers who assembled to stand in solidarity with the bereaved family.
Assam Rifles extended all necessary assistance to the family in conducting the last rites and reiterated its unwavering commitment towards the welfare of serving personnel, veterans and their next of kin. The ceremony, conducted with dignity and honour, served as a reminder of the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces in safeguarding the nation. The legacy of Sep Thenkhomang Haokip will continue to inspire future generations and will forever be remembered with pride and gratitude.
