Imphal: Kakching and Keithelmanbi. Demonstrating a steadfast commitment to the holistic development and empowerment of the youth, the Assam Rifles successfully conducted twin educational initiatives focusing on academic and financial literacy on 08 September 2026.
Under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), International Literacy Day was observed at Waikhong in Kakching District. Organised with active community participation from Waikhong High School, the programme brought together 395 participants comprising 349 students, 9 teachers and 37 parents. The vibrant event featured engaging literary competitions including essay writing, debates and poem recitation, alongside cultural items like singing and dancing and fun sports activities such as sack and Jalebi races. These structured activities fostered creativity, critical thinking, confidence and camaraderie while highlighting the transformative power of education.
Concurrently, a specialized Financial Literacy Session was organised at Assam Rifles Public School in Keithelmanbi. Conducted by Ms Ananya Gupta and Mr Rishabh Mathur from the GrowthEd Foundation, the interactive workshop engaged 70 students and 18 teachers. The sessions equipped participants with practical insights into saving, budgeting, responsible spending, needs versus wants, financial goal setting and informed decision-making to cultivate sound financial habits from an early age.
Both initiatives reinforced the core mission of the Assam Rifles in nurturing confident, responsible and future-ready citizens through people-centric educational and life-skill engagements across the region.
