Bishnupur: In a swift response to the escalating threat of vector-borne diseases during the monsoon season, the Assam Rifles launched a comprehensive public health initiative on 19 June 2026 at Maibam Chingmang in Bishnupur District, Manipur. Driven by concerns raised by local residents over heavy mosquito breeding in stagnant water accumulations, the intervention aimed to safeguard the remote community from seasonal outbreaks.

A dedicated contingent of 35 security personnel from the Assam Rifles in Irengbam, Bishnupur District, systematically executed a large-scale chemical fogging drive. The anti-mosquito operation thoroughly blanketed residential clusters, community spaces, approach roads and high-risk breeding locations across the village to disrupt the lifecycle of disease vectors. This proactive sanitation effort was deliberately structured to curb the spread of debilitating seasonal illnesses such as malaria, dengue and chikungunya.

Alongside the field operations, the security forces held interactive health awareness sessions with the villagers to promote environmental hygiene. The personnel educated families on practical preventive habits, encouraging them to regularly clear drainage points, prevent water logging and securely cover storage containers. This dual approach of immediate pest eradication combined with community education successfully enhanced the public health preparedness of Maibam Chingmang, earning deep appreciation from the local residents for the timely assistance.
