Guwahati: Assam recorded 5,657 positive COVID 19 cases with 71 infected persons died due to the virus-related ailment in the last twenty-four hours.
Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet on Wednesday night said the new cases were confirmed out of 63,956 tests. The overall positivity percentage of Assam stood at 8.85pc on Wednesday.
Sharing the Covid19 data, the chief minister said of the new cases, Kamrup Metro district alone reported 1,456.
The Covid19 recovery rate of the state stood at 85.74% on the day, Sarma informed.
According to the Covid19 media bulletin, released by NHM Assam, in the last 24 hours, 3,880 patients were discharged after their recovery from the disease.
After the death of 71 positive patients, Assam currently has 40,970 active cases.
So far, Assam has recorded a total of 1,909 deaths due to Covid19 while 2,65,860 people have been discharged after their recovery.
Assam so far has reported 3,10,086 positive cases.
The state’s Covid19 death rate stands at 0.62pc, as per the data.
