Assam: Prime accused in Ranjit Bora murder case killed in police firing

The distributor of Purabi Dairy, Ranjit Bora, was shot dead inside his car while he was travelling to a bank in Guwahati to deposit money.

Guwahati: The prime accused in the broad daylight murder of dairy distributor Ranjit Bora in Guwahati, Shah Alam Talukdar, who ran away from the police lock-up, was allegedly killed in the police firing on Friday.

Talukdar earlier escaped from Satgaon Police custody on Thursday night.

Police have not disclosed much about the incident, but sources have confirmed that the accused was killed on Friday night.

His body has been kept at the mortuary in Guwahati Medical College Hospital.

He received two bullet injuries in the chest, as per some reports.

Talukdar, the prime accused in the murder of Purabi Dairy distributor Ranjit Bora, escaped from police while being taken to the Botahghuli area of Guwahati by the Satgaon Police for a search operation. 

According to the police, he was in handcuffs when he escaped from custody.

Shah Alam was among the six accused in the case. Out of the six, five have already been arrested.

The incident took place near Silpagram on Panjabari Road in Guwahati, Assam.
