Assam polls: Congress promises to give 5 lakh jobs to people

Guwahati: In poll-bound Assam, Congress has promised to provide 5 lakh jobs to youths if voted to power in the state.
Addressing a press conference, President of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, Ripun Bora said after forming a government in the state, Congress will create 5 lakh jobs, apart from the 58 thousand sanctioned posts which are vacant.
He further informed that there are 20 thousand vacancies at various departments under the Assam government, in the SC and ST backlog category, which are yet to be filled up.
Congress will make sure that people get these jobs.
Slamming the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Bora said that it misguided the state’s youth by making false promises in BJP’s 2016 political campaign where the party said it can provide 25 lakh jobs, but failed to fulfil its promise leaving jobless people in despair.
Bora also said that a job creation department will be set up to focus on the unemployment of people and proper scrutiny for appointment to the government vacancies will be done by Congress if voted to power.
