Assam Omricorn: 4 samples of Covid+ sent for genome sequencing

The people who tested positive for the coronavirus are from the Barak Valley in southern Assam. Their RT-PCR test came out positive. Three have returned from Saudi Arabia and one from Finland recently, according to an official.

Silchar: Four blood samples of travellers who tested positive at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) have been sent for genome sequencing to find out about their Omricorn variant status.

The people who tested positive for the coronavirus are from the Barak Valley in southern Assam. Their RT-PCR test came out positive. Three have returned from Saudi Arabia and one from Finland recently, according to an official.

Bhaskar Gupta, vice-principal of SMCH said four blood samples have been sent for genome sequencing at the National Institute of Biomedical Genomics at Kalyani in West Bengal.

Five physicians tested positive for the virus and two of them have been admitted to the hospital while three others are in home isolation.

“We are monitoring their health conditions,” Gupta said.

On Wednesday, three doctors tested positive for Covid-19, he said. According to SMCH authorities, a total of eight Covid-19 positive persons are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
