Assam High School declared as containment zone

Kamakhya High School, Maligaon has been declared as a containment zone to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus. District administration has ordered that the school will remain closed for the next 7 days.

Guwahati: The Assam government on Thursday declared two areas as micro containment zones which included a higher secondary school, following the detection of a number of COVID 19 positive cases.

Kamakhya High School, Maligaon has been declared as a containment zone to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus. District administration has ordered that the school will remain closed for the next 7 days.

“In view of detection of COVID-19 positive teachers in the Kamakhya High School, Maligaon Guwahati under Kamrup Metropolitan district in the interest of the maintenance of public hygiene and to prevent further spread of COVID-19 virus amongst the teaching staff and students, the
school is hereby declared as Micro Containment zone and the school authority is directed to close the school for next 7 days wef from Thursday and the Circle Officer, Guwahati Revenue Circle is directed to seal the area immediately”, the statement said.

Earlier in the day, the Assam Chief Minister special vigilance cell has been declared containment zone for 7 days after COVID positive cases were detected among people working in the office. 11 out of 48 people tested positive.

In new SOPs, the state government has stated that if more than 10 people are found to be COVID positive in any particular area, that region will declared as a micro containment zone.

Meanwhile, in the latest SOP announced on Monday, the Assam government has further relaxed the COVID 19 restrictions and extended the curfew relaxations timings. The night curfew will be in effect from 11 pm to 6 am.
