Guwahati: Assam police has arrested an editor of a local news portal under POCSO act for airing allegedly mala-fide news related to a senior Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma from the Assam Cabinet.

“The matter is in reference to a salacious news article about an Honourable Minister of Government of Assam and attempts to malign familial bond. As such Dispur PS Case no 612/2021 under Section 509 IPC r/w sec 14/21 POCSO Act has been registered,” GP Singh, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Law & Order tweeted.

“People are strongly advised not to give air to such attempts since posting such pictures with malicious intention attracts provisions of POCSO Act. Assam Police would take strong action against all such attempts under stringent provisions of POCSO Act,” Singh further sai.
