Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa on Saturday announced Rs 350 crore plans to develop the Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden. 

Himanta Biswa visited the zoo and inspected the facilities there.

Later, he also enquired about the progress of the proposed renovation of the zoo campus. He also visited the enclosures of the newborn giraffe for the first time in the zoo.

He fed milk to the newborn giraffe, which took the internet by storm, and named it ‘Parijat’. He also spent time with the rescued orangutans and kangaroos and formally opened them for public viewing in the Zoo.
