Assam Cabinet approves 4% increase in DA for state government employees

Guwahati: The Assam Cabinet on Tuesday approved four per cent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees, effective from December 1, 2023.

This brings the total DA for State Government employees to 46%.

The Cabinet, Chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, decided to allocate Rs 135 crore for the construction of 10 Cancer Care Hospitals on the occasion of National Cancer Awareness Day today.

Briefing the media after the Cabinet meeting, Minister Jayanta Malla Baruwa said that it was decided to release 135 Crore for government hospitals under the Free Drugs Scheme to purchase essential drugs.

Three eggs will be provided in the mid-day meal weekly to each of the eligible children in schools in char/chapori areas under PM-POSHAN with effect from December 1, 2023, he added.

Baruwa Said that the English Language Teaching Institute (ELTI) will be established under the administrative control of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Assam to ensure the optimum utilisation of resources.
