Itanagar: The prime suspect in the SI Sibu George murder case has been arrested by the Capital Police from Assam’s Lakhimpur on Friday night, police said on Saturday.
“Arrested one prime suspect last night from Lakhimpur, we are working to nab the rest,” the Itanagar Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Kamdam Sikom said.
The SDPO, however, did not disclose his name, while indicating that there were more people involved in the case. On being asked about the motive of the murder, the SDPO said financial transaction is being suspected to be the reason.
When contacted, the PHQ PRO Rohit Rajbir Singh said, “Few suspects have been identified and are being interrogated.” He also said the motive behind the homicide seems to be personal enmity.
A native of Kollam in Kerala, 50-year-old Sub Inspector Sibu George, who was attached to the DGP Cell in the Police Headquarters (PHQ) here, was found murdered in his government quarters at SRPL Colony here on Friday morning.
