Itanagar: About 450 pre-litigation and pending cases were disposed of at the National Lok Adalat conducted across Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday with the settlement amount of over Rs 1.86 crore, a senior official said on Sunday.
Of the total of 2,476 cases listed for the hearing, 447 cases were settled at the Lok Adalat, comprising 19 benches, held across the state along with the rest of the nation with a settlement amount of Rs 1,86,84,082.97, informed the member secretary of Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APSLSA) Jaweplu Chai.
The settlement amount was handed over to the litigants and financial institutions during the Lok Adalat. The cases listed for the hearing included criminal compoundable cases, bank recovery cases, MACT cases, etc.
The Lok Adalats were held at the District & Sessions Courts at Yupia, Pasighat, Tezu, Bomdila and Ziro, Additional District & Sessions Courts at Basar, Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) courts of Aalo, Yupia, Pasighat, Ziro, Seppa, Roing and Changlang, and Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) courts of Yupia, Tawang, Namsai, Koloriang, Khonsa, Daporijo and Longding.
The CJM, Aalo conducted the Lok Adalat proceedings in virtual mode too for parties residing in far away places, the APSLSA member secretary said. National Lok Adalat is conducted every quarter year to provide amicable and speedy solutions to parties in different pre-litigation and pending cases in various courts of the country, she said.
