Arunachal Govt committed to provide power supply to villagers: Khandu

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Saturday said that the state government is committed to provide power supply to every village of the state, especially those in remote areas which are off the grid.

“We are committed to provide power supply to every village of the state, especially in remote areas which are off the grid,” Khandu said in a tweet after dedicating the 2×250 KW Payu Mini Hydel Station (MHS) to the people of Nyapin constituency in Kurung Kumey district.

The Chief Minister, who was on a visit to the district, also inaugurated the Sango-Pinchi PMGSY road and the newly completed Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) at Nyapin in presence of Lok Sabha MP Tapir Gao, Home Minister Bamang Felix, MLAs Laisam Simai and Phurpa Tsering, and other dignitaries, official sources said.

Built at an estimated cost of Rs 1,464.90 lakh, the Payu mini-hydropower plant at Pinchi under the Phassang circle of the district, bordering China-occupied Tibet, will cater to far-flung villages like Pinchi, Phassang, Chabang, Sango, Yomdo, Longsa, Leya, Ralung, Sangte, Sikey, Yorung, Sulo, Taris, Gufa and Malo, informed the Hydro Power Development Department’s Koloriang Division Executive Engineer Darmar Ete.

In addition to Payu MHP, six more (picco, micro and mini) hydropower plants across the state were commissioned during this fiscal year, DHPD Western Zone Chief Engineer Jummar Kamdak said. They are Khajalong MHS (2x750KW) in West Kameng district, Rapo MHS (2×100 KW) in East Kameng, Tadogitu PHS (1×10 KW) in Shi-Yomi, and Tissu Ph-II MHS (2×250 KW), Namchik Ph-I MHS (2×250 KW) and Namchik Ph-II MHS (2×150 KW) – all under Changlang district.
