Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Friday visited Parshuram Kund, a Hindu pilgrimage center situated in the lower reaches of the Lohit river, to take stock of the work progress of Parshuram Kund Development Project funded by the central government under PRASAD scheme.
The foundation stone for the Rs 37.88 crore project under the Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive (PRASAD) scheme was laid by DoNER Minister G Kishan Reddy in September last year. PRASAD scheme aims to pave the way for development and promotion of religious tourism in India.
During the visit, the Deputy Chief Minister instructed the officials to work in close coordination with the Parshuram Kund Development Trust (PKDT) and local people to expeditiously complete the project in order to make it a world-class tourist and pilgrimage centre.
Mein said Parshuram Kund is a holy pilgrimage site flocked by the devotees and tourists in large numbers from all over the country. He added, development of the site under PRASAD scheme will enhance tourism, economic growth and boost employment opportunities for the local communities.
The Dy CM, who was accompanied by Lohit Deputy Commissioner Marge Sora, district SP and senior officers from various works departments, said that Parshuram Kund is going to be one of the biggest pilgrimage sites in the country and is being developed into a major tourist destination.
He informed that the Parshuram Kund Mela (during Makar Sankranti that falls in January) will be celebrated next year in a grand and befitting manner.
Later, Mein inaugurated the newly-constructed PHED sub-divisional office and RWD office buildings at Wakro, besides inspecting the under construction ADC office building and a water treatment plant.
Appreciating the RWD and PHED officers for maintaining the quality and standard of the construction works, he said, “I hope the new offices will boost the morale of the employees to perform their duties to the optimum and provide the needed services.”
Mein said the construction work of the ADC office building is going on in full swing and is two months ahead of the scheduled time. He said, this type of dedication will send a strong message and challenge for other departments to follow suit the work culture of the RWD.
“It’s the time of competition and transparency,” he said and added, “where there is good work culture there is proper development and where there is no work culture, development is hampered.”
Mein said he feels glad and proud to see such kind of development works happening in his constituency and added that he will continue to work tirelessly for the development of the people of his constituency and the State as a whole.
